We left before breakfast with the intention to eat something later bin one of the many towns ahead.
Soon we found ourselves again climbing to altitudes of 2600 m driving through small villages and about 30minutes into our drive we were covered in heavy morning mist which forced us to reduce speed to 25km/h.
After some 120km we arrived in Dila where we found a bank to change some money and a little restaurant where we could have something for breakfast.
After Awasa which we bypassed we headed towards Adis Abeba and the traffic soon became thicker and again we found ourselves sandwiched between many trucks.
For the first time on our trip we also experienced heavy rain as we were on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. With the help of our Garmin we found our planned local lodge but decided after a short check-up that this was not the place for us to stay.
The Bel Air camping site seemed to have seen better days and was found to be surrounded by squatter camps and narrow roads.
We then proceeded to look for Holland House camping site which was suggested to Paul by someone who travelled through here recently . Despite the GPS data given to Paul we however could not find this establishment either and as darkness set in we found the Ghion Hotel in Adis Ababa and decided to book into here for the next 2 nights before heading further north.
The hotel bar and restaurant offered good drinks and cheap food and we decided to explore Addis the following day and also stock up with food supply and other necessities as well as make use of the internet to update the web page with our reports , pictures and videos.
