Andre flew in yesterday from Dubai  ( 16h flight ) and booked himself in the airport hotel in Auckand  and Willy started in Zurich and flew via Singapore and Perth landing 5:30h this morning in Auckland.

It was freezing cold ( 11C ) and Willy took the airport shuttle to meet up with Andre at his hotel where he could have a nice shower after a 32h journey and 3 plane transfers.

After a warm coffee the boys then proceeded with the shuttle bus back to the airport from where they flew to the South Island of New Zealand and its biggest city – Christchurch.

Christchurch

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Canterbury Region. The Christchurch urban area lies on the South Island’s east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula. It is home to 404,500 residents,[2] making it New Zealand’s third-most populous city behind Auckland and Wellington. The Avon River flows through the centre of the city, with an urban park located along its banks.

On arrival at the Christchurch airport they were fetched by the “Scotties” shuttle service and driven to their offices to get their rental Car – a Toyota RAV 4.

The boys were happy to drive on the left hand side of the road like in South Africa and not on the right hand side like on most of their world travels. After driving through town they found a nice Motel for the stay over in Riccarton Road in close vicinity to Restaurants and bottle stores.

Across the road from the Motel a Sports Bar was the ideal place for a first cold beer in New Zealand and after a nice meal at “Buddah restaurant” the boys proceeded to have a well earned sleep.
